I claim authorship of my work, not ownership. This means you can share, copy, and otherwise use my work as you see fit. I ask only that you credit me, that's all. If you like it so much you want to support me, buy me a coffee. This link will take you to my PayPal account where you can make a donation in the amount of your choice.
Each of my cartoon images is hand-made using a mouse on GIMP and believe me, they take hours. Upload them to your own sites and use them if you want to, but please don't pretend they are your work. Blog posts take time and effort to write. If you like one of my posts and want to use it, why not copy a snippet and link to the post you like? Quoting is fine. Linking is fine, just don't take the whole thing and pretend you wrote it. That's not fair. It's good netiquette to cite and link; in fact, it's doing me a favour, drawing attention to my work without detracting from your own.
Where pictures are concerned, right-click and save them to your own PC, then host them elsewhere before using them. Hotlinking takes up bandwidth so it's very much a no-no. Simply linking the picture to this blog will suffice, to be honest. I just want people to know who made it, that's all.
The ads on display here are not Adsense, they're from other advertisers. I will happily take ads from people who ask me to; email me or leave a comment if you want a spot on my blog. You can have a sidebar spot or appear at the bottom of every post in a rotator. Clicking on the ads will bring you to reputable web hosting services, some of which I've used myself. I've actually been on all of them apart from MT, which specialises in large, complex website hosting. My comics are hosted on 000webhost. I've only left iPage because I didn't want to pay for hosting any more. I don't operate a web design business any more so I don't need a complex shop front with fancy features to display my talents.
Everything here on this blog is my own admittedly subjective opinion. The purpose of this blog is to log examples of abuse of "intellectual property." As a Pirate I'm appalled by the use of the words "Intellectual property," "consume (meaning usage)" and loaded language in general. Since I'm basically conservative I don't like change, particularly where the erosion of my rights is concerned. The last thing I want, then, is to be bamboozled into allowing the world I live in to become so riddled with tollbooths and permission requirements that I can't get anything done without either paying or asking for something when the only purpose thereof is to sit there collecting rent for the use of a name or to make use of what I already paid for.
If you are an inventor or content creator, other business models exist than rent-collecting on that thing you did. Try them out and let me know how you get on. I wish you every success. Please note, while you might feel or believe that the created item is your baby and might wish to preserve its artistic integrity, etc., e.g. the idea of having "and zombies" added to the title thereof appalls you, welcome to the weird and wonderful world of popular culture. Don't be a snob, and try to leave it better than you found it, if you can. No one has the right to assert control over a work after it has entered the public consciousness. I can understand a temporary exclusive right to control sales distribution of the original work but don't tell me I can't play in your sandbox; if you don't want it played in don't distribute it in the first place.
I'm opinionated, it sometimes gets me into trouble. My other blog On t'Internet occasionally acts as a honeypot for idiots with weird agendas. If you see anything horrible about me on the internet, please bear in mind that you can't pay people by taking money off them, etc. I'd love to be able to do that with my bills! I don't suffer fools gladly — which really annoys them.
I don't really bother to moderate comments, as a rule. Comments I don't want here will be deleted. These include things like adverts for knock-off designer goods, fake medicines, diet websites, and the like. Don't use this blog to shill your stuff or I will block you faster than you can blink. Don't be abusive in any way, shape, or form to me or to anyone else.
If you try to get me into an argument you're having with somebody else, I'm not getting involved. I might help friends out from time to time, but for the most part that means telling you to grow up and learn to get along with each other or let it go because dragging it out isn't making it better. On rare occasions I will help people I know out when they're being mistreated but the case has got to be exceptional. For the most part, your problems are your own.
Want to argue? Okay, fine. Present your points in a reasonable way and be prepared to defend them with facts and empirical evidence. I'm not interested in theory, however fancy or oft-cited it is. It either works in practice or it doesn't. If people are doin' it wrong, why aren't they doin' it right? I learn a lot from arguing so be prepared for the possibility that I might change my mind about something if you present your argument convincingly enough. It does happen. Please bear in mind that I'm often offline for extended periods so don't get upset if I don't immediately respond to your finely-crafted point. I've got a life.
I am VERY interested in guest blogging opportunities. I've blogged for Rick Falkvinge, Techdirt, and 38 Degrees already on political issues and I'm happy to blog for other people for other issues if they so desire. Email me or post a comment if you want to do that. If you want to guest post here, please let me know. I'll certainly consider it.
I love creative writing (can you tell?!). I also make online Comics - an ever-expanding collection of mobile-friendly internet comic strips. See my other writing credits.
